“During the January Business Meetings, PAR will hold a forum with representatives of the State Real Estate Commission and State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers to answer questions from REALTORS®. If you have a question that you would like answered by either the Commission or Board, please submit it to PAR using the Q&A form no later than Wednesday, December 22. Marshalls Creek Project

August 26th, 2010 by Paulette

08/25/2010 – Marshalls Creek, PA.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and area elected officials today broke ground on the third and final stage of the US 209 Marshalls Creek Traffic Relief Project in Monroe County.

“It has been a long process getting to this point,” District Executive Michael W. Rebert, P.E. said. “But I am glad to stand here today with area officials to break ground on Stage Three of the Marshalls Creek Traffic Relief Project. This project is designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety on US 209 through the Marshalls Creek area.”

Stage Three improvements include relocating US 209 as a two lane highway around the Village of Marshalls Creek, along with intersection improvements on several secondary roads in Smithfield and Middle Smithfield townships. Leeward Construction, Inc. of Honesdale, Pa. was awarded an $18,209,378 contract to construct the new roadway. All work on Stage Three is expected to be complete in October 2012.

Stage One construction included improvements at several intersections (US 209 and Buttermilk Falls Road, Buttermilk Falls Road and River Road, and US 209 and River Road) along the existing US 209 corridor along with improvements to Oak Grove Drive and circulatory roads in the White Birch Estates. The $14.2 million Stage One project was completed in 2007.

Stage Two construction included a 400-plus-space Park-and-Ride Lot on US 209 located at the intersection with Mt. Nebo Road/Oak Grove Drive; a relocated section of Oak Grove Drive – which included construction of a new bridge carrying the relocated roadway over Pond Creek; a new signalized intersection of realigned Oak Grove and Mt. Nebo Road at US 209; and various improvements to the storm water management system along US 209 north of Marshalls Creek. The $6.3 million Stage Two project was completed in 2009.
